Kinshasa, December 17th, 2025 (CPA). – The need to rethink the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the education system in the Democratic Republic of Congo was raised by the Minister of National Education during the first edition of the Annual Public Service Conferences (CASP 2025) in Kinshasa, according to a statement released on Wednesday. ‘In her speech, the Minister of State emphasized the need to rethink the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the education system. She reiterated that AI is not intended to replace humans, but to support teachers, inspectors and administrators in carrying out their duties,’ the statement read. Speaking on the theme: ‘Artificial intelligence and public service efficiency: the case of national education,’ Raïssa Malu, Minister of State for National Education, stressed the importance of strengthening educational administration in the education sub-sector in order to ensure the ethical, effective and sustainable integration of digital technologies in education.
To illustrate her argument, she also cited the example of automated marking of State Examination papers, an innovation that delivers significant gains in speed, traceability and reliability, while maintaining the central role of education inspectors. In this context, the Minister for Education praised this locally developed solution, which respects the principles of digital sovereignty. The visit to the National Education stand, punctuated by a scientific demonstration, highlighted the new educational guidelines, as well as the training and modernisation efforts undertaken as part of the implementation of the ministry’s 2024-2029 five-year plan.
