DRC: Parliamentary returning of September 2026 with he backdrop of the National Dialogue

Kinshasa, September 14th, (CPA). –The September ordinary session of Parliament opens this Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, at the People’s Palace, in accordance with the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This session of the 4th legislature of the Third Republic is taking place against the backdrop of the forthcoming National Dialogue initiated by the President of the Republic and Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi. Primarily focused on the budget, this session – apart from the State’s financial estimates for the 2027 financial year – will need to address other matters, notably legislative backlogs, issues that could not be examined during the ordinary session in April or the extraordinary session in July. In particular, the draft law on the referendum process, tabled by MP Ngondankoy, the text of which was referred back to Parliament for a second reading by the Head of State following the opinions of the Constitutional Court.ACP/
