DRC: The Congolese franc depreciates by 0.57% on the official market

Kinshasa, October 27th, 2025 (CPA) –The Congolese franc, the national currency of the Democratic Republic of Congo, depreciated by 0.57% on the official exchange market, with the US dollar trading at CDF 2,221.9 during the week under review, compared with CDF 2,164.6 during the week of October 20th to 26th, 2025, the CPA noted on Monday at authorized exchange offices. There has been a depreciation of the Congolese franc in official exchange offices scattered throughout the city of Kinshasa, with the rate set at CDF 2,221.9 to the US dollar. On the parallel market, the Congolese franc remained stable, trading at CDF 2,250 or even CDF 2,200 to the US dollar.

View of CDF

On both segments, there is a small margin of CDF 28.1. The trend now is towards a parity rate between the two segments of the foreign exchange market. Furthermore, the measure of displaying the exchange rate on both the official and parallel markets is strictly enforced, but the population is calling for transport costs to be reduced and applied even at peak times. However, speculation on the rate has given way to good practice. The Congolese franc appreciated at the end of September and beginning of October, reaching CDF 2,350 to the US dollar for a week before stabilizing at CDF 2,250 and then CDF 2,220 last week. The selling rate, on the other hand, stands at CDF 2,350 to the US dollar.
