Forum on ‘The paradoxes of the DRC’s ambitions’ announced for 30 October

Kinshasa, October 27th, 2025 (CPA) – A public forum entitled ‘The paradoxes of the DRC’s ambitions in the hydrocarbon sector’ has been announced for 30 October by a research institution in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a statement from the organizers seen by the CPA on Monday. ‘A public forum dedicated to the publication of a report entitled “The paradoxes of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s ambitions in the hydrocarbon sector” is scheduled for October 30th in Kinshasa,’ the statement read. According to the press release, the forum aims to bring together state actors, academics, civil society and private operators to discuss the issues and challenges facing the sector in a context marked by the energy transition and the DRC’s emergence as a country offering solutions to global warming. It also states that its objective is to bring together key players in the hydrocarbon sector to determine the future of hydrocarbons in the DRC, putting forward arguments for and against the exploitation of these natural resources in a context marked by the energy transition and the DRC’s affirmation as a country offering solutions to global warming. According to the methodology, the forum on ‘The paradoxes of the DRC’s ambitions in the hydrocarbon sector’ will focus on the presentation of the report on this subject, followed by presentations from two panels who will comment on the report and re-launching the arguments for the exploitation of these natural resources. At the end of the presentations on the report, participants will take the floor to express their views and make recommendations.
