Kinshasa, October 5th, 2026 (CPA).- Young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were urged on Monday in the capital, Kinshasa, to undertake training to enhance their professional skills, by the coordinator of a youth collective during a discussion with the CPA. “Above all, get training, showcase your talents and be active on social media because social media talks about us too. So, be active, promote what you can do, what you can bring to businesses, and perhaps you’ll be contacted,” has said Asyncrite Ntoto, coordinator of the African “Youth Ambassadors” Collective. Speaking at a forum on empowering young people organised by the collective, Ms Ntoto highlighted the fact that young people often fail to find employment due to a lack of information. “Young people who cannot find work may be unable to do so because they do not know where to look, or perhaps because they do not know how to showcase their skills. They do not know how to sell themselves to recruiters. And so we decided to set up the Employability Forum, which provides a platform for dialogue between young jobseekers, human resources managers and companies,” she has explained.
The coordinator of the Young Ambassadors of Africa emphasized that companies are looking for people capable of solving their problems and do not simply recruit on the basis of qualifications. “HR Dating sessions (meetings with HR managers) allow young people to speak directly with HR managers and see whether their CV matches the profile they’re looking for,” she has added.
The Young Ambassadors of Africa Collective is a network of young Africans that has been in existence since 2015. “It was founded with the aim of promoting Africa in a positive light. We talk about unemployment, we talk about the brain drain, and we talk about poverty. Yet in this very same Africa, there are young people who are studying, innovating and solving the problems facing their communities,” Ms Ntonto has pointed out.
