Mambasa, June 15th, 2026 (CPA).- The recovery rate for people infected with the Ebola virus in the Mambasa health zone, in Ituri province, north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is estimated at 50%, according to the chief medical officer of the health zone.
“We have another patient who is progressing well and who, thanks to God, may also get out of this alive. The recovery rate in the Mambasa health zone is 50%,” has declared Dr Abedi Yunga, chief medical officer of the Mambasa health zone.
He has emphasised that early healthcare remains a key factor in patients’ chances of survival, adding that several deaths recorded in other health zones are linked to patients arriving late at healthcare facilities.
To this end, Dr Abedi has urged the public to consult healthcare services promptly as soon as suspicious symptoms of the disease appear. “If you arrive at a hospital in time, we will help you, but if you arrive too late, your chances of survival decrease,” he has added.
He has reminded that his zone has already recorded twelve suspected cases since the start of this outbreak, including three confirmed cases and one death.
