Empowerment: Young people called upon to stimulate the local economy by creating jobs

Kinshasa, July 8th, 2025 (CPA).- An appeal was made to young people in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to boost the local economy by creating jobs through their businesses, during a certificate award ceremony on Tuesday, marking the end of a week-long training course for 100 young people. ‘This training offered several benefits to participants, including enabling them to create jobs through their businesses, develop their skills and stimulate the local economy, social inclusion and resilience in the face of crisis,’ said Gabriel Lomengo Shango, a certified entrepreneurship coach. ‘These young people will be able to submit their business plans to various funding opportunities. It’s a way of making them self-sufficient,’ he added. He said that the training enabled young people to identify and seize entrepreneurial opportunities suited to their abilities and circumstances in order to promote their independence.  This first edition of entrepreneurship training was organized by the ‘Network of Professional Entrepreneurship Coaches of Congo (Recopec)’, in collaboration with the Association of Christian Mothers with Disabilities and the NGO Batoto. More than one hundred (100) participants received certificates at the end of the training on opportunity research and business plan development to help them become self-sufficient.
