Kinshasa, November 20th, 2025 (CPA). The health coverage of artists and their families, in accordance with the artist’s statute signed last June, has been the focus of a working session between the Minister in charge of Culture, Arts and Heritage and her counterpart in charge of Public Health, according to a press release received on Thursday by CPA. ‘The Minister in charge of Culture, Yolande Elebe Ma Ndembo, has emphasised the urgency of strong interministerial collaboration in order to guarantee comprehensive protection, particularly support for Congolese artists during periods of inactivity,’ it is read in a statement from the Ministry in charge of Culture, Arts and Heritage. «This is how her counterpart has also confirmed that access to compulsory health insurance has already been finalised and is in the process of being implemented, before specifying the provisional timetable that has already been established. Among other things, December 2025 will see the identification of artists via the Ministry in charge of culture’s directory, as well as the symbolic presentation of health cards to a few artists by the end of 2025. The year 2026 will be marked by the full roll-out of the scheme for all beneficiaries, » the document has reported. This step marks, according to the press release, a decisive turning point towards social recognition, protection and promotion of artists in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
