Fecofa: The four pillars of V. Monsengo’s four-year plan presented to President Felix Tshisekedi

Kinshasa, May 28th, 2026 (CPA).- The main pillars of the four-year programme of the new president of the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa) have been presented to President Felix Tshisekedi during an audience granted on Wednesday to Veron Monsengo and Amadou Diaby, the new president and second vice-president of Fecofa respectively, according to a press release consulted on Thursday by CPA. “This Wednesday May 27th, 2026, the President of the Republic, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, has received in audience Mr Veron Mosengo-Omba, the newly elected president of the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa),” it is read.

The newly elected president of the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa), Veron Mosengo, who was accompanied by the former president of V. Club and new second vice-president of Fecofa, Amadou Diaby, has presented to the Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, the priorities of his four-year programme, estimated at 25.6 million US dollars, the Congolese Presidency’s communications unit has reported in its press release.

The four main pillars

The source reports that on this occasion, “the Head of State’s host has presented to him the priorities of his governance programme (2026–2030)”, named “Fecofa 2030”, which is structured around 11 strategic priorities and summed up by its slogan: “Rebuild to structure, structure to win”.  This programme is “estimated at around $25.6 million, or $6.4 million per year, and is based on four major pillars: the stability of the national league calendar; the promotion of grassroots football; the restructuring of the federal administration; the development of the sports infrastructure necessary for the growth of Congolese football”, the statement has emphasised. For his part, the Head of State has congratulated FECOFA’s new leadership team, whilst assuring them of his full support.

A four-year term for the new executive committee

As the sole candidate in the running, Veron Mosengo-Omba has been elected by an overwhelming majority with 60 votes in favour out of 65 voters (3 against and 2 invalid ballots) as the new president of Fecofa on May 20th, during the elective general assembly held at the Pullman Hotel in Kinshasa. He begins a four-year term at the helm of this national body of Congolese football, thus bringing to an end the transitional period managed by the Normalisation Committee (CONOR), set up by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The FECOFA’s new executive committee comprises four vice-presidents: Wawa Dayoni, Amadou Diaby, Mosonga Ebisa Lolo and Singa Boyenge.

Veron Monsengo thus succeeds to Constant Omari Selemani, who has held the position of FECOFA president for several years. He has led the Congolese football governing body from 2003 until his departure in June 2021. After his long tenure, the Congolese football governing body has been managed by a Normalisation Committee (CONOR) presided over by Dieudonne Sambi Nsele since 2023.
