Football: DRC v Chile scheduled to take place in Orleans, France, in an international friendly match

Kinshasa, June 7th, 2026 (CPA).- The international friendly football match between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Chile,  originally scheduled for Tuesday in Marbella, in Spain, has been rescheduled for the same day in Orleans, in France, CPA has learned on Sunday from the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa). “The international friendly football match between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Chile is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th, at 6.00 pm (4.00 pm GMT), at the Stade de la Source in Orleans, in France,” it is learned on Sunday from the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa). This friendly match, originally scheduled to take place in Marbella, in Spain, as part of DRC national team’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup – jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico – has been declared a closed-door fixture. “No spectators will therefore be admitted to the stadium to watch this confrontation between the Leopards and the Chilean national team,” according to the source. Furthermore, it was announced that no media accreditation will be issued for the coverage of this match, adding that journalists and other media professionals will therefore not be able to access the stadium to cover the event. As a reminder, the match between DRC Leopards and Chile’s La Roja (The Reds) had been scheduled to take place in Marbella, in Spain, but the local authority has ultimately prohibited it due to the Ebola epidemic. This match will be the second for DRC, following their goalless draw against Denmark on Wednesday, June 3rd, in Liege, in Belgium. For their part, the Chilean team were defeated by Portugal 1-2 on Saturday in a friendly football match.ACP/
