Foreign trade: The price of a ton of zinc up for 0.70%

Kinshasa, July 28th, 2025 (CPA).– The price of a ton of zinc, an export product of the Democratic Republic of Congo, rose by 0.70% on international markets, trading at USD 2,801.85 on 28 July 2025, compared with USD 2,782.5 the previous week, according to a statement seen by the CPA on Monday.

‘The price of a ton of zinc rose on international markets during the period from July 28th to August 2nd, 2025. This mineral is trading at USD 2,801.85 for the week under review, compared with USD 2,782.5 the previous week, an increase of 0.70% per ton,’ according to the Foreign Trade Ministry’s price reports. Compared to previous months, namely January, February and March, as well as the first two weeks of April, zinc prices have fluctuated internationally. During these periods, the price of a ton of zinc rose on international markets from June 30th, to July 5th, 2025, by 1.63% per ton, and from July 7th to 12th, 2025.

This mineral saw an increase of 3.35% per ton from July 21st, to 26th and 2.84% per ton. According to the source, in addition to zinc, two other commercial mining products are on the rise on international markets, namely gold and silver. Furthermore, four other commercial mining products fell on international markets during the period under review, namely copper, cobalt, tin and tantalum. However, no product remained stable internationally. However, it should be noted that the rise, fall and stability of prices for marketable mining, agricultural and forestry products are a result of supply and demand on international markets and the supply chain. These variations have a direct impact on the Congolese economy, which is heavily dependent on raw material exports, particularly in the mining sector.
