Gaza: “Hamas must be removed and the Palestinian Authority reformed”(French President)

Kinshasa, April 15th, 2025 (CPA).- The French President Emmanuel Macron has declared on Monday to the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that Hamas must be removed from Gaza and the Palestinian Authority reformed, in order to move towards a two-state political solution: Israel and Palestine, have reported the international media. ‘It is essential to build a framework for the day after: disarming and removing Hamas, defining credible governance and reforming the Palestinian Authority’, has declared Emmanuel Macron. ‘“This, in order to make progress towards the two-State political solution in the run-up to the June conference, in the service of peace and security for all”’, he has added. This declaration comes a day after criticisms by Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu of the French President’s position on the Palestinian question.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, had judged that Macron was ‘making a serious mistake by continuing to promote the idea of a Palestinian state (…), a state whose only aspiration is the destruction of Israel’. Emmanuel Macron and Mahmoud Abbas also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, the acceleration of the delivery of humanitarian aid, the rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their territory and the assumption of responsibility for Gaza by the Palestinian Authority, including security responsibilities.
