General Inspectorate of Finance: Media urged to popularize the 2026–2028 strategic plan

Kinshasa, June 8th, 2026 (CPA).- Media professionals were urged on Monday to promote the 2026–2028 three-year strategic plan of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) during the opening of a capacity-building seminar for its media and civil society partners in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“I call on media professionals to popularize the IGF’s 2026–2028 three-year strategic plan. The media and civil society are key partners of the State in building modern and accountable governance,” said Christophe Bitasimwa, Inspector General of Finance and Head of Service. “We considered it essential to involve media professionals as well as civil society actors, whose role is crucial in disseminating accurate information, promoting civic education, strengthening democratic oversight and fostering a culture of accountability,” he added.

On this occasion, Inspector General Bitasimwa pointed out that the IGF has for several years been engaged in a process of transformation aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of public financial oversight, particularly through a systemic control approach, which has become an essential tool for preventing institutional dysfunctions, safeguarding public finances and improving governance. He explained that the seminar pursues a dual objective: enabling participants to better understand the philosophy, strategic orientations, objectives and expected outcomes of the IGF’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, while strengthening the capacities of media professionals and civil society organizations so that they can become credible sources of information and active partners in supporting financial governance reforms.

For his part, Jérôme Sekana, National Coordinator of the non-profit organization “Toile d’Araignées”( Spider Web), which specializes in economic investigations, stated that strengthening human capital is generally a powerful engine of economic growth because people must always remain at the center of development efforts. For the DRC, he said, capacity building is a lever for industrialization, increased national production, accelerated economic growth, economic diversification, greater investment attractiveness, higher tax revenues and the modernization of public administration. The General Inspectorate of Finance operates under the supervision of the Presidency of the Republic and plays a central role in the prevention, oversight and fight against irregularities in the management of public resources.
