Kinshasa: Company plans to create 6,000 jobs for young people

Kinshasa, June 8th, 2026 (CPA).- More than 6,000 jobs for young people are expected to be created through the activities of Saphire Ceramics within the Maluku Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to an information note consulted on Monday by CPA.

“More than 6,000 jobs are planned for young people thanks to the activities carried out by Saphire Ceramics since its establishment in the Maluku Special Economic Zone,” the note read. According to the source, the project is presented as a driver of economic development capable of strengthening the local value chain in the construction materials sector while supporting the DRC’s industrialization ambitions. Established in the Maluku SEZ, Saphire Ceramics has set itself the mission of contributing to the country’s industrialization through the local production of construction materials that meet the needs of the domestic market.

The company is among the leading manufacturers of ceramic tiles and wall tiles supplying Kinshasa and other urban centers across the country. Its presence also contributes to promoting local production and reducing dependence on imported products. The same source stressed that the development of logistics infrastructure within the zone, particularly the construction of a quay designed to facilitate the transportation of goods, is opening up new prospects for growth and expansion towards the provinces as well as foreign markets. The emergence of processing industries such as Saphire Ceramics represents an opportunity to increase national production, stimulate entrepreneurship and promote youth employment.
