Likasi, September 23rd, 2026 (CPA).- Ten heavy-duty vehicles and other sanitation equipment, such as wheelbarrows and spades, were presented to the Likasi Town Hall in Haut-Katanga province, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the CPA learnt on Wednesday from an administrative source.
“We have come to present these ten large Shacman vehicles, as well as a batch of wheelbarrows, intended to improve sanitation as part of the public-private partnership agreed between our company, Générale des services et de production (Gestep), and Likasi Town Hall,” has said Nsenga Kiluba Phanuel, managing director of the company.
And added: “This first batch of lorries is intended for waste collection in the four municipalities of Likasi, pending the arrival of a second batch.”
For his part, Deputy Mayor Jean Muzinga Mushinji stated that this partnership aims to address the shortage of refuse collection vehicles available to the council to ensure the effective collection of waste, before calling on the public to pay their refuse collection tax regularly in order to support this initiative.
