Lubumbashi, July 21st, 2025 (CPA).- The instructions on the free enrolment and re-enrolment, issued by the national Ministry in charge of Education and New Citizenship, are being respected in Lubumbashi, province of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in both public and approved private schools, CPA has noted on Monday. ‘I ask all parents to come and enrol their children. The enrolment and the re-enrolment are free, as they can read in our notice posted at the school entrance. They have nothing to doubt,’ has declared Jean-Jacques Ngoy, prefect at Le Cedre College in the Kassapa district of Lubumbashi. Notices stating ‘Enrolment and re-enrolment are free of charge’ are posted in front of several schools to prove to parents that the instructions of the hierarchy are being followed. This measure is in line with government instructions that make the state responsible for school fees at the basic education level. ‘The parents only have to pay FC 1,000 for the report card and FC 1,000 for tuition, as required by the circular on the setting of school fees. We are not allowed to charge any fees other than these. This confirms that the enrolment and the re-enrolment are free everywhere,’ he has said. This policy is beneficial for public and approved private schools in terms of ensuring sufficient student numbers. It also allows all school-age children to have the opportunity to benefit from education, in line with the wishes of the President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, he has concluded.
