Kinshasa, July 21st, 2025(CPA).- The operation “Bala bala eza Wenze te” (The street is not a market) has been the subject of an awareness-raising campaign conducted on Monday by the head of the Mpassa 3/Bibwa neighbourhood in N’sele, a municipality in the east of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are in the process of raising awareness among our residents, moving from one avenue to another, of the ‘Bala bala eza Wenze te’ operation launched by the city’s governor, so that everyone can take steps to dispose of their goods without clogging up the avenue and allowing vehicles to circulate in good conditions », has declared Richard Lingwe. He has seized the opportunity to condemn the encroachment of public rights of way and unplanned construction along the main arteries in the Mpassa3/Bibwa district. After this awareness-raising phase, the next step will be to remove all these buildings by force. In addition a youth association has proceeded on Monday to clear away waste and rubbish from the Urban Mutual Betting (PMU) offices and the sister hospital in the Kingasani district, in Kimbanseke, a municipality in the east of the Congolese capital. « We are an association of young volunteers from the neighbourhood, and we have noticed that these roads are in a very advanced state of disrepair. That’s why we have taken the initiative of clearing away the rubbish that is disrupting vehicle traffic’, has said Zola Kwakasa, president of the Jamaïcain youth association. He has seized the opportunity to send a message to the relevant authorities to support their association with sanitation tools to make their living environment healthier. These include spades, wheelbarrows and boots.
The aim of the ‘Bala bala eza Wenze te’ clean-up operation is to clean up the city of Kinshasa in general and its communes in particular. ACP/
