Infrastructure: the announcement of a pay scale increase welcomed by the staff

Kinshasa, July 21st, 2026 (CPA).- The announcement of an increase in the pay scale to be implemented in the third quarter of this year has been welcomed by the staff and managers of the Ministry in charge of Infrastructure of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Tuesday during a meeting in Kinshasa with a representative of the Ministry in charge of the Budget. “We are pleased with the announcement made by the adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Budget regarding the upward adjustment of the pay scale, which will take effect no later than the third quarter of this year,” has declared  Prospere Beya, president of the trade union delegation at the General Secretariat for Infrastructure and Public Works.  “From tomorrow, we will be back at the Payroll Department to finalise the decisions arising from all our meetings with the office of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Budget, who has requested the fourth payroll run immediately, and the Payroll Department has provided him with the figures that will be taken into account from the third and fourth quarters onwards. This guarantees that the pay scale will be implemented,” he has said. “We must continue our work at the Payroll Department so that we can reassure staff regarding the implementation of the pay scale in the third quarter. We are already 85 per cent satisfied. The message to staff is one of reassurance and patience,” has indicated Mr Beya. He has reminded staff and managers at the Ministry in charge of the Infrastructure to be patient, as the third quarter is approaching. This meeting demonstrates the Ministry in charge of the Budget’s willingness to help resolve issues relating to the pay scale and to support staff and managers in improving the working environment.
