Mbuji-Mayi, September 21st, 2026 (CPA). – A march in support of peace, national unity, cohesion and the stability of national institutions has been announced for Tuesday in Mbujimayi, the capital of Kasaï-Oriental province in the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a statement seen by the CPA on Monday.
“This major popular march will be an opportunity for the UDPS/Tshisekedi to reaffirm its support for the Head of State and President of the Republic, His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, as well as its commitment to peace, national unity, cohesion and the stability of the Republic’s institutions,” has read in the statement signed by Oferus Tshianyi, acting federal president of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress, Mbuji-Mayi federation. According to the same statement, the march is an expression of support for the inclusive national dialogue process. The ruling party also reaffirms its commitment to the referendum process. “It will also serve as an expression of support for the inclusive national dialogue process, characterised by peace and unity, national cohesion and the rebuilding of the state, so as to enable all the nation’s driving forces to contribute to finding solutions to the challenges facing our country.” , the document has adds. “The Mbuji-Mayi federation of the UDPS/Tshisekedi further reaffirms its commitment to the referendum process, in line with the position expressed by the party leadership, and calls on its members to take part in the march in a calm and disciplined manner, whilst respecting republican values,” it is emphasises.
The party’s grassroots organisations and supporters are being mobilised to ensure the success of this march, which will set off from the Etoile roundabout in the commune of Dibindi, ending at the provincial governor’s office, where a memorandum will be handed over to the provincial authorities. CPA/
