Luebo, June 9th, 2026 (CPA).- The opening up of the Luebo territory in Kasai province, in the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been requested by the territory’s administrator during an interview granted on Tuesday to CPA. “The opening up requested for the territory of Luebo follows the deterioration of these local infrastructure, which is making transport difficult and hindering the smooth running of administrative, commercial and rural activities,” has declared Jean Tshiawuke, administrator of the territory of Luebo.
He has indicated that all infrastructures are in a state of serious disrepair, requiring the involvement of the central government. “This is a challenge we must overcome. We are calling for the reconstruction of the territory in every respect, as we are landlocked and have been forgotten. Given that the traffic is practically impossible and the ground is sandy with numerous ravines, the locals make do with bicycles and motorbikes to get to the fields and the diamond mines.
Hence the need for the central government to step in to build the 225-km Tshikapa-Katalayi road on the one hand, and the 275-km Tshikapa-Kamuesha road on the other, in order to link the provincial chief town and the territories », he has concluded.
