A Special operation intended to the sanitation of N’sele relaunched in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, June 9th, 2026 (CPA).- A special operation intended to the sanitation of the municipality of N’sele (Special Salongo), in the east of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has been relaunched on Tuesday by the municipal authority during a meeting organised for neighbourhood chiefs and their deputies. “ We are relaunching the Salongo in our municipality despite the efforts made by the provincial authorities to sanitise the city of Kinshasa. We must, at our level, step up sanitation efforts through special salongos. The municipality of N’sele will only be able to move forward thanks to everyone’s involvement,” has declared Franck Mbo, burgomaster of the municipality of N’sele.

The head of this municipality has called on neighbourhood leaders to redouble their efforts to ensure the cleanliness of the streets, avenues, markets and other public spaces under their responsibility. “Every neighbourhood leader must fully assume his or her responsibilities in order to realise the Head of State’s vision regarding sanitation and environmental protection. I will be out in the field every day to observe your work.  For you have been appointed not to remain in your offices, but rather to assist the municipal authority,” he has added.

The municipal authority has also announced the intensification of sanitation operations both day and night in order to effectively combat the persistent unsanitary conditions in certain parts of the municipality. This initiative forms part of the provincial programme “Kinshasa Ezo bonga”, led by the governor of the city of Kinshasa, Daniel Bumba, whose aim is to improve residents’ living conditions and promote a healthy environment throughout the capital.
