Kikwit, July 23rd, 2026 (CPA).- A fire, the cause of which is not yet known, was broken out on Thursday at around 7.30 am in a pharmaceutical warehouse called Moon Pharma and the Congo Futur shops, in the lower town of Kikwit, in Kwilu (south-west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo), CPA has noticed.
“From 7.30 am, we have noticed smoke coming from this warehouse whilst all the shops were still closed. We have called the owners, but by the time they arrived it was already too late; we are now trying to salvage what we can,” has said Junior Kabwe, one of the building’s neighbours, who was present during the incident. This fire was broken out whilst the electricity supply had not yet been restored. It is worth noting that this is the second time a fire has been reported in Kikwit, a week after the one at the main market. The city of Kikwit does not have a fire engine to respond to such emergencies. CPA/
