Kinshasa: a dermatological soap is the subject of a PhD thesis at Unikin

Kinshasa, July 13th, 2026 (CPA).- A dermatological soap known as “black soap” is the subject of a doctoral thesis to be defended at the end of July by a dermocosmetologist at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the doctoral student has announced on Monday to CPA. “I have written a doctoral thesis on this black soap, which is the latest product from our laboratory, and the first part of my work will be defended by July 31st at the latest this year at the University of Kinshasa,” has declared Dr Mathieu Kalemba, a specialist in dermocosmetology. According to him, the black soap he produces is effective; its formulation will be presented and certified at UNIKIN. It cannot be compared to just any black soap; its unique feature is that it treats problems such as acne, spots on the face, chest and back, and blemishes between the legs, whilst also correcting skin imperfections. The dermocosmetologist has explained that this soap repairs the skin and treats all the problems mentioned, even in cases of severe acne and dry skin, etc. Black soap is a 100 per cent natural and biodegradable product. It comes in two main varieties: cosmetic (made from olive oil paste, ideal for exfoliation) and household. Dermocosmetics is a discipline at the crossroads of dermatology and cosmetology. It offers cutting-edge skincare products that lie halfway between conventional beauty products and medicines. Formulated with a high concentration of active ingredients, these products are subject to rigorous tolerance and efficacy requirements to treat mild skin conditions.ACP/
