Kinshasa, June 14th, 2026 (CPA) . – The establishment of a vocational training center aimed at mentoring young people in Matete Municipality, central Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), was considered on Saturday during a meeting between local youth and the provincial minister in charge of the sector. « What I take away from our discussions is the establishment of a youth training center in Matete, the implementation of projects to engage and mentor young people, and the promotion of youth as a genuine driving force for development. Youth is a strength, and we must support it through concrete action, not merely through words, » said Bob Amiso, Provincial Minister of Youth, Sports and Leisure.
« We must transform ideas into concrete projects that will engage, train and guide the youth of Kinshasa, » he added.
He explained that the initiative forms part of a tour currently being conducted across Kinshasa’s 24 municipalities.
« Kinshasa’s youth population represents approximately 11 million people, nearly 67 percent of whom constitute a significant force. That is why I am committed to staying close to young people in order to understand their concerns directly, » he said. The minister further stated that, together with his team and in collaboration with the city governor, efforts would be made to identify solutions to the challenges facing young people, particularly unemployment. « After completing this tour, I will submit these concerns to the competent authorities (…) so that the issues identified can be presented to the governor and concrete solutions defined, » he concluded.
