Maï-Ndombe Provincial Assembly receives petition bearing 100,000 signatures on the Constitution

Inongo, June 14^th, 2026 (CPA). – A petition containing 100,000 citizens’ signatures collected in support of the revision or amendment of the Constitution was submitted to the office of the Maï-Ndombe Provincial Assembly in Inongo, capital of Maï-Ndombe Province in the west-central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), CPA learned on Saturday from an administrative source. « Article 218 of the Constitution states that once a section of the population collects 100,000 signatures, it grants the authority to amend or revise the Constitution. Today, our organization, ‘Dynamique Fatshi ou Rien’ (Fatshi or Nothing Movement), has come to present what the people of Maï-Ndombe Province have accomplished, » declared Trésor Mfuru, Vice-Governor of Maï-Ndombe Province and initiator of the citizens’ movement. He added:  « Dynamique Fatshi ou Rien has fulfilled the commitment it made to the population, the Head of State and the Provincial Assembly. Since you represent us, the people, we have come to officially present these 100,000 signatures. » « We know that you maintain close contact with the central government. You can therefore easily report that the people of Maï-Ndombe have reached the threshold of 100,000 signatures, which gives the Head of State the authority to amend or revise the Constitution. I congratulate the members of Dynamique Fatshi ou Rien, as well as myself, for the efforts made to achieve this result, » he said.
