Kinshasa, June 8th, 2026 (CPA).- An operating budget has been allocated to the Municipal Council of Limete, located in central Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), by the municipal authority, according to an administrative source consulted on Monday. “An operating budget has been made available to the Council by the Mayor of Limete Municipality (…) to enable municipal councilors to better carry out their duties for the benefit of the population,” said Jean-Jacques Tumina, President of the Limete Municipal Council.
Mr. Tumina reminded local elected officials of the importance of maintaining cooperation based on peace, unity and harmonious coexistence between deliberative bodies and municipal executive authorities. He also announced the establishment of a five-member committee tasked with reviewing the Council’s internal regulations in order to adapt them to current realities and improve the institution’s functioning. Elected during the December 2023 polls, municipal councilors across the Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to face several operational challenges. Among the difficulties most frequently cited are the absence or insufficiency of operating resources, the lack of appropriate meeting facilities, inadequate administrative equipment and collaboration issues between some deliberative bodies and municipal executive authorities.
