Linafoot: the Lupopo–Mazembe derby postponed to Saturday, November 7th at the Kibassa-Maliba Stadium

Lubumbashi, Nov. 2nd, 2026 (CPA).- The derby between FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe, two teams from Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga), in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has been postponed to Saturday, November 7th, at the Kibassa-Maliba Stadium in Lubumbashi, on match day 3 of the 32nd National Football League (Linafoot) championship, according to this competition’s fixture list. “Originally scheduled for November 6th, the Lubumbashi derby between FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe has been postponed by one day to Saturday, November 7th, 2026, at 3.00 pm, at the Frederic Kibasa-Maliba Stadium in Lubumbashi, following a decision by the National Football League (Linafoot) for organisational reasons.” According to the source, this fixture comes at a difficult time for TP Mazembe, which is looking to put its elimination from the African competition at the hands of Club African of Tunisia behind it, having lost 1–2 on aggregate following a 1–1 draw in Lubumbashi.

The Crows are therefore expected to be given a warm welcome by their supporters this Monday in Lubumbashi upon their return from Tunisia, for this first fixture of the 2026–2027 season. For their part, FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo will go into this clash on match day 3 of the 32nd edition of the Linafoot (League 1) on a positive note, buoyed by their recent victory in the derby against their rivals. As a reminder, the two giants from Lubumbashi had played out a goalless draw (0–0) on June 14th last year during the play-offs of the previous season.
