Lualaba: Conference of Provincial Entities of the Central Bank of Congo opens

Kolwezi, October 1st, 2026 (CPA).- The first edition of the Conference of Provincial Entities of the Central Bank of Congo opened Thursday in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, under the leadership of the governor of the banking institution, with the aim of strengthening its presence in the provinces, CPA reports.

“We are at the heart of one of the provinces that makes a decisive contribution to the country’s economic activities. My conviction is clear: we must build a permanent network,” said André Wameso, Governor of the Central Bank of Congo.

Lualaba Governor Marie-Thérèse Fifi Masuka welcomed the choice of Kolwezi as the host city for the conference, before paying tribute to the President of the Republic and Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, for his continued commitment to the development of the DRC and the consolidation of institutions. She stressed that the choice of Lualaba Province to host this Central Bank of Congo (BCC) conference demonstrates the interest attached to the province, as well as its strategic importance in the country’s economic and financial fabric. The governor wished participants fruitful and constructive discussions, while inviting them to take advantage of their stay to discover the vitality and potential of the city of Kolwezi. For his part, Emmanuel Lijanja, Director General of Provincial Entities, explained the objectives of the conference, including bringing the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) closer to economic realities on the ground and better addressing the needs of the provinces, in line with the orientations of its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. The Conference of Provincial Entities of the Central Bank of Congo will end on Saturday.
