Tshopo: Governor inspects construction sites in Kisangani

Kisangani, October 1st, 2026 (CPA).- Several ongoing construction projects in Kisangani, capital of Tshopo Province in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, were inspected Thursday by the provincial governor following his return from Kinshasa, CPA reports. “We decided to take a look at the 30% of the projects we are currently developing in the city and throughout the province,” said Paulin Lendongolia, Governor of Tshopo. At the Post Office Square, the governor assessed progress on the development of an area intended for official ceremonies and recreational activities for the population. He then inspected the provincial Treasury building, which is expected to house several revenue agencies as well as the provincial Ministry in charge of Finance. The delegation also visited the provincial Ministry in charge of Budget, where rehabilitation and equipment works are underway. The provincial authority welcomed the progress made on the various sites visited, while emphasizing achievements rather than their promotion. “We do not need to boast, but our actions will prove what we are doing,” he stressed. At Kisangani Central Prison, the governor inspected the new judicial infrastructure, including courtrooms, offices and sanitary facilities, intended to improve the operating conditions of the justice system. He also announced the continuation of concrete paving works on the road linking the Canot road cross to the central prison, before the laying of an asphalt wearing course. The visit notably covered the area being developed at the Post Office Square, the provincial Treasury building, the provincial Ministry in charge of Budget and Kisangani Central Prison. The visit was aimed at enabling the provincial authority to assess progress on projects being carried out in several sectors.
