Kinshasa, November 3rd, 2026 (CPA).- Men have been urged to pay greater attention to prostate disease prevention during an awareness-raising day organized on Tuesday in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as part of Blue November, the awareness month dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer.
“I urge men to break the silence and pay particular attention to prostate disease prevention and treatment. Protecting one’s health is essential to physical well-being.
Urinary problems and prostate disorders, which are still surrounded by taboos and sometimes trivialized, nevertheless require better awareness and information within families and communities,” said Princesse Lunsadisa, Coordinator of the NGO “Mwasi Uzur’Art.”
She emphasized that urinary problems and prostate disorders, which are still surrounded by taboos and sometimes trivialized, require greater awareness and information within families and communities.
For this social advocate, in a city like Kinshasa, where social realities, eating habits and living conditions are changing rapidly, men’s health deserves increased attention. She maintained that this is precisely the attitude that the Blue November awareness campaign seeks to change.
“Men’s health should not be addressed only when a disease becomes a serious concern. It must be incorporated into preventive habits and individual responsibility,” she continued.
For his part, Prince Nzala, manager of the organization, said the most common symptoms include difficulty starting urination, a weak urine stream, frequent urges to urinate, particularly at night, and the feeling that the bladder has not been completely emptied. He added that prostate cancer prevention deserves particular attention.
“Men should discuss their level of risk and the potential benefits of screening with their doctors, depending on their age and family medical history,” he recommended. The organization pointed out that no traditional food constitutes a medically recognized treatment for prostate enlargement.
No fruit, vegetable or natural remedy, on its own, guarantees the prevention or cure of prostate diseases.
According to the organizers, November is dedicated each year to raising awareness of male cancers, particularly prostate and testicular cancers. This symbolic month aims to inform, promote prevention and screening, and support men affected by these diseases. ACP/
