Review of the mapping of Kinshasa’s various ports takes centre stage in discussions

Kinshasa, October 25th, 2026 (CPA).- A review of the mapping of the various ports in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has been at the centre of discussions on Saturday at the provincial governor’s office between the Deputy Governor and the Divisional Commissioner of Police, according to a statement from the City Hall.

“The Deputy Governor of the City of Kinshasa, Eddy Iyeli Molangi, has chaired an important meeting on Saturday October 24th, 2026, dedicated to enhancing security at the Congolese capital’s private and public ports. Central to the discussions was a review of the mapping of the city’s various ports, an essential step in establishing an accurate overview of the situation and putting in place a security system tailored to the realities on the ground,” it is read.

On this occasion, the statement has noted that a directory of Kinshasa’s private and public ports has been presented to the Deputy Governor. Acting in accordance with the instructions of Governor Daniel Bumba, who is currently away on official business, Deputy Governor Eddy Iyeli has provided clear guidance with a view to strengthening security within these facilities, the document has added.

According to the same source, this initiative demonstrates the provincial executive’s commitment to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the people of Kinshasa. “With this in mind, the Deputy Governor has announced that a working meeting bringing together port operators and the various services operating there will be held early next week. This will be followed by an on-site inspection to assess security conditions at the capital’s port facilities,” the text has concluded.
