Kinshasa, February 22nd,2026 (CPA) – Thérèse Ngoyi, better known as “Faya Tess,” singer and ambassador of Congolese Rumba music to UNESCO, was received at the Brussels Parliament in Belgium ahead of her concert on Saturday, CPA learned Sunday from her orchestra’s administration. “Faya Tess visited the Brussels Parliament last Friday at the invitation of Ms. Lydia Mutyebele, a Belgian MP of Congolese origin. During the visit, they discussed issues related to certain professions held by women and their involvement in demanding tasks,” said André Tetu, the singer’s manager.
The singer was accompanied by Gisèle Ngwala, President of the non-profit association *Mapendano*, and other influential Congolese women in Brussels. Following the reception, Faya Tess performed a humanitarian concert in Brussels to support the social actions of *Mapendano*, which cares for orphans in Kinshasa. “A live concert orchestrated by the group ‘Super Rumba.’ The Belgian capital vibrated to the rhythm of Congolese Rumba, featuring the repertoire ‘ In the Age of Classics,’ evoking strong emotions during the Valentine’s Day evening led by the singer-songwriter Faya Tess.” The performance, held to a full house, was widely praised by the Congolese diaspora. “The enthusiasm of the Brussels audience confirmed an artist with strong sensitivity and magnetic stage presence. It was a full and warm venue. Faya Tess delivered an intense performance, blending vocal elegance, lyrical depth, and genuine connection with the audience,” testified Eymard Gildas Kienga, Rumba enthusiast. “Each song, enriched with careful arrangements, celebrated love in all its forms, making this Valentine’s Day an unforgettable moment. The stage design, rich in colors and symbols, enhanced the experience, while audience excitement never waned,” he added.
Malage, Guest of Faya Tess in Brussels
The evening was further elevated by the participation of Malage de Lugendo, a respected figure in African music, former member of Tout-Puissant OK Jazz under the legendary Franco Luambo Makiadi, and member of the iconic orchestra Zaiko Langa Langa. “His presence brought a patrimonial and intergenerational dimension, highlighting the richness and continuity of Congolese Rumba and African music,” it was reported.
