Kinshasa, October 5th, 2025 (CPA) – Six (6) girls out of fifteen (15) pupils from the Saint Fabrina secondary school in the municipality of Mont-Ngafula, in the west of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, who have been victims of tear gas poisoning since last Tuesday, are still under observation in two hospitals, we have learned on Saturday from an administrative source.
« The news is rather good for the pupils of College Saint Fabrina, victims of tear gas poisoning. According to reports received at the various hospitals where they are being treated, 6 (six) girls out of 15 (fifteen) are still being observed, including 5 (five) admitted to the Kinshasa University Clinics and 1 (one) to the Monkole Hospital. Other pupils have returned to their respective homes », has declared Severin Lumbu, Burgomaster of Mont-Ngafula. After having talked to the medical staff of the Kinshasa University Clinics (CUK), which is providing treatment for most of the pupils affected, Mr Lumbu has explained that the progress is rapid thanks to good care.
From the beginning of next week, he has announced, these pupils will be returning to their respective homes before resuming school in complete safety. He has, moreover, urged the population to be extra vigilant in the face of the rapid spread of fake news on social networks linked to this incident.
