Kinshasa, June 15th, 2026 (CPA/Xinhua).- Hezbollah has welcomed on Monday the memorandum of understanding concluded between Iran and the United States, affirming that this leads to a complete ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon, has reported the Xinhua News Agency.
“We congratulate Iran for this major achievement, linked to Tehran’s resilience, sacrifices and commitment to national policies aiming to preserve its sovereignty and independence,” has indicated a statement from Hezbollah.
The group has also urged the displaced to await official instructions before returning to their towns and villages, adding that it would not accept any future attacks on Lebanon. Hezbollah has praised Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, as well as the Iranian president, government and armed forces, expressing its gratitude for what it called Iran’s unwavering support for Lebanon.
The group has declared that Tehran had insisted that Lebanon be included in any agreement ending the war and preserving the country’s rights. It has additionally indicated that there can be no return to the situation that existed prior to March 2nd, emphasising that the resistance will continue to defend Lebanon’s sovereignty and will not accept any future attacks against the country. Furthermore, Hezbollah has called on the Lebanese authorities and political forces to adopt a unified national stance to safeguard Lebanon’s interests and sovereignty, urging a reassessment of past policies and what it has described as misguided calculations and gambles.
It has affirmed that national unity and turning to “true friends” remained the best way to protect Lebanon’s national interests.
