Kinshasa, April 12th, 2026 (CPA).- President Donald Trump has ordered on Sunday, with immediate effect, a US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, in response to Iran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions during peace talks in Islamabad, international media have reported. ‘With immediate effect, the US Navy, the best in the world, will begin the process of blockading all ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz,’ has declared Donald Trump.
‘I have also ordered our Navy to search and intercept any vessel in international waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one will be able to sail safely on the high seas after paying an illegal toll,” he has added. Whilst acknowledging that the talks in Pakistan had gone “well” and that “agreement had been reached on most points”, Donald Trump has indicated that Tehran had refused to back down on the nuclear issue. This announcement comes after the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement to end the war in the Middle East, following marathon negotiations in Islamabad, in Pakistan.
The negotiations with Iran to end the war in the Middle East have failed, and US Vice-President JD Vance has left Pakistan. In two lengthy messages, the US President has warned: “Any Iranian who fires on us, or on peaceful ships, will be pulverised”, suggesting that “other countries” would be involved in the blockade effort, without naming them.
