War in Ukraine: Kiev calls on the international community Responding to Russia

Kinshasa, September  3rd, 2025 (CPA) – The President of Ukraine on Wednesday called on the international community to respond to Russia following the recent attack by the Russian army in western Ukraine with more than 500 drones and missiles causing several deaths, international media has reported. « Russia has launched 526 drones and missiles, these strikes are clearly a Russian demonstration. Putin is showing his impunity. And this undoubtedly demands a response from the world« , has declared Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine.

For his part, the head of Ukraine’s civil administration, Vyacheslav Tchaus, spoke of the material damage to the country’s essential infrastructure, in particular the damage caused to electrical installations in the Cherniguiv region: ‘At least 30,000 people are without electricity as a result of the bombardment of civilian infrastructure’, he said. For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday expressed his country’s ambition to push Kiev to relinquish the four Ukrainian regions it has claimed as annexed since September 2022. ‘For peace to be lasting, the new territorial realities that have emerged must be recognised and formalised in accordance with international law’, he has recommended. Meanwhile, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Andrïi Sybiga, accused Moscow of contempt for the peace process.

« A new series of old ultimatums. Russia has not changed its brutal objectives and does not show the slightest readiness for meaningful negotiations », he has asserted. The Ukrainian President reminded his European allies to put even more pressure on Russia’s war economy. For her part, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen intends to discuss further support for Kiev without delay. ‘The heads of state and government must discuss how the Nordic and Baltic countries can provide additional support to Ukraine, whether on the front line or at the negotiating table’, her office has reported. It should be noted that the latest military raid by the Russian army took place just as the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, was in Beijing, China, to commemorate the victory over Nazi Germany.
