Women’s leadership: entrepreneurial culture recommended to Congolese female students to influence society

Kinshasa, September 27th, 2026 (CPA).- The development of qualities such as a sense of innovation and an entrepreneurial culture was recommended to female students in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in order to influence society, during a conference on women’s leadership held Saturday at the University of Kinshasa, in the Congolese capital.

“Courage, because a generation that dares can transform its environment. We must dare to learn, dare to undertake, dare to speak up, dare to enter decision-making spaces and dare to defend ourselves for our country,” said Aicha Nafoy, president of the student organization “Eminence Femme Unikin”. Ms. Nafoy presented the concept of heritage as the duty to enrich knowledge through the testimonies and advice received from older women. “Because we are not starting from zero. We are the heirs of women who worked, built families, supported communities, served the State, taught, undertook businesses and contributed to the advancement of our country. It is now up to us to receive this heritage, but also to enrich it,” she said, stressing that elevation means making collective well-being a priority when one succeeds.

“Elevation, because our goal cannot be to succeed individually. We want to rise in order to lift others,” Ms. Nafoy explained. Held under the theme “Heritage, Courage and Elevation: Women at the Heart of the Republic,” the reflection session was jointly organised by “Eminence Femme Unikin” and the Office of the Spokesperson for the Head of State, Tina Salama. It featured an experience-sharing session involving several women entrepreneurs and public-sector executives, who discussed their professional careers and their contribution to promoting gender equality. Among them was Ms. Solange Muwaji, a commercial bank director, who spoke about the implementation of gender parity in her workplace.
