Kinshasa 7th, August , 2021 (ACP). – One hundred and six houses were charred during a fire which broke out Thursday at midday on landscape 2, Irambo and Lushozi 1 avenues in the Nyalukemba district in the commune of Ibanda, in Bukavu, capital of South Kivu province, learned Friday of the ACP from the president of civil society in Ibanda commune, David Cikuru.
According to the source, the death toll shows 106 houses burned down, and several properties burned, as well as other houses damaged while the fire was waiting to be brought under control. No loss of human life has been recorded.
When questioned about this, Nyalukemba neighborhood chief DéoKurasa said the fire was caused by a poor connection of the electric cables.
“A young man wanted to make a fraudulent electricity connection from the Saio military camp while he had power from the line at Alfajiri middle school. There was a short circuit and that’s what caused this fire, ”he said.
The victims deplore the lack of intervention by the fire department. This is the third time that this part of the city of Bukavu has been hit by a massive fire. ACP/
