Harmonization and codification of motorcycle parking spaces planned in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, December 11th, 2025 (CPA).- The harmonization and codification of motorcycle parking spaces in each municipality of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been considered, for better control and systematic identification of drivers, according to information obtained Thursday from an association source. “The objective is to harmonize and codify all motorcycle parking areas in each municipality, with a view to improving control and systematic identification of drivers, as well as structuring and securing the entire motorcycle sector in Kinshasa, with a vision of expansion on a national scale,” said Sébastien Kasongo, president of the National Federation of Motorcycle Taxi Associations of Congo (Fenamo). According to him, a system for mapping and numbering motorcycle parking sites is already in place. “The relevant documents will soon be submitted to the prime minister, mayors, and police authorities for validation and implementation,” he added. Mr. Kasongo also announced the strengthening of security for motorcyclists through the official deployment of the Special Protection and Rapid Intervention Brigade (BSPIR/FENAMO), which will be actively involved in the field after the implementation of the codification. “Together with all the motorcycle associations, we are working to transform the image of the sector, an image of patriotism, loyalty, and responsibility,” he said. « Our meeting also brought together the leaders of branches from across the city of Kinshasa, each representing the various motorcycle parking lots in all the municipalities. They spoke on behalf of motorcycle drivers, where they park and carry out their daily activities. Their presence reflects the collective commitment to a better structured, safer sector that complies with established standards, » concluded the president of Fenamo. ACP/
