Kasai Oriental Minister of Health relieved of his post

Mbujimayi, May 29th, 2021 (CPA).– The Provincial Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Humanitarian Actions of Kasai Oriental, Dr Martin Nkonu Katambwa, was relieved of his duties following a provincial decree signed by the interim governor, Ms. Jeannette Longa Muswamba, a copy of which reached the CPA on Friday.

In this decree, the provincial authority justified this decision, by the urgent need to revitalize this ministry and increase its effectiveness in the fight against the resurgence of Covid-19 and other epidemics, which threaten dangerously its citizens.

This decision is also mainly motivated by the repeated absences of Minister Martin Nkonu imposed on him by his medical follow-up in the United States of America for dozens of days a year, a situation that risks having a negative impact on the efforts of the provincial government against the Covid-19 pandemic and of which the provincial health ministry is the focal point, informs the same document.

While waiting for the vacancy thus created to be filled soon, the interim of the provincial ministry of health, social affairs and humanitarian actions will be provided by Liévin Mbuyamba Sifila, his colleague of Energy, hydrocarbons, hydraulic resources, plan and budget. ACP/Fng/nig
