Kinshasa, December 17th, 2025 (CPA). – Christian Delacroix Tshibangu, a painter from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been invited to the 7th edition of the Painting and History Exhibition, scheduled to take place from December 22nd, 2025 to January 18th, 2026 in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo (DRC), the CPA learned on Wednesday from artistic sources. ‘Through my participation in this 7th edition of the Congo Painting Exhibition, I have chosen to tell the story of our roots, those that we have sometimes deliberately erased, sometimes forgotten through fatigue, pain or renunciation,’ said Christian Delacroix Tshibangu, visual artist. The event aims to highlight pictorial creation as a tool for reading the past and understanding the present, giving a central place to African historical narratives through contemporary art. ‘For me, painting is a sensitive archive. Where books have sometimes been banned, confiscated or made inaccessible, the image has remained.
It transcends time, borders and languages,’ he added. The initiator of the ‘Livrisme’ style, Christian Delacroix said that his artistic work, particularly his series ‘Les Racines’ (The Roots), dedicated to African historical figures, aims to question the collective memory and ideals of unity promoted by the continent’s founding fathers, in an African context marked by persistent divisions. ‘Through my works: portraits, female figures, political and cultural figures, I want the public to understand that my art is not limited to aesthetics. It tells stories, questions and sometimes disturbs, but above all, it invites reflection,’ he added. This 7th edition of the Congo Painting Exhibition will be held in Pointe-Noire, at the Musée du Cercle Africain. It will bring together artists from Congo, the DRC, Rwanda and Angola, with the aim of promoting African historical memory through contemporary painting. acp/
