DRC: the motorcade of the minister in charge of Justice rescues five injured people on the RN1

Kinshasa, Sept. 6th, 2026 (CPA).- Five people injured in a road accident involving the death of a minibus driver have been rescued by the motorcade of the Minister in charge of Justice during the night between Thursday and Friday on the RN1 in Luila, in Kongo Central, it is learned on Sunday from an official source.

“Arriving shortly after the accident, the Minister of State’s motorcade has stopped immediately to assist the victims. Faced with the emergency, Guillaume Ngefa and his delegation have organised their evacuation – particularly that of the most seriously injured – to the Kasangulu General Reference Hospital, where they were treated,” it is read in a statement from the ministry’s communications unit. The accident has occurred when a minibus has collided with a parked articulated lorry. The driver of the minibus has died as a result of the impact, whilst five passengers have been injured, some seriously, according to the source.

“On our way back, our delegation has stopped to assist the fellow citizens who had been involved in a road traffic accident. Faced with this emergency, we have taken the most seriously injured to Kasangulu Hospital,” has declared the Minister of State Guillaume Ngefa, quoted by the same source.  Mr Ngefa was returning to Kinshasa following an official mission to several towns in Kongo Central, notably Madimba, Inkisi, Mbanza-Ngungu, Boma, Muanda, Banana and Kitona. This mission was primarily dedicated to assessing the functioning of the judiciary, prison conditions and the state of infrastructure within the justice sector, the source has explained. The National Road No. 1, which links Kinshasa to Kongo Central, is regularly the scene of road accidents, particularly on certain sections and during night-time journeys.
