Haut-Uele: Weighbridge inaugurated in Boh

Isiro, September 1st, 2026 (CPA) – A weighbridge, designed to regulate vehicle weights and protect road infrastructure, has been commissioned in Boh, a town situated between the provinces of Ituri and Haut-Uele in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, CPA has learnt on Tuesday from an official source.

“I call on business operators and hauliers to strictly adhere to the authorized weight limits. This measure is in everyone’s interest and should help prevent the premature deterioration of bridges and reduce the risk of road closures caused by overloaded vehicles,” has declared Christophe Dara, Deputy Governor of Haut-Uele. Measuring 18 meters in length, the weighbridge has a weighing capacity of between 20 and 80 tons, according to the engineer who installed the structure. This equipment will, in particular, enable the weight of vehicles and goods to be checked to ensure compliance with authorized tonnages in accordance with the technical standards established for each engineering structure.

The main aim of commissioning this facility is to combat vehicle overloading, which is considered one of the main threats to the durability of bridges and road infrastructure in Haut-Uele province. The ceremony has taken place in the presence of the provincial Minister in charge of Transport and Communications, the chief of the Dongo chiefdom, representatives of government departments, and members of the public who had gathered for the occasion.
