Kinshasa, July 28th, 2025 (CPA) – A concert for peace entitled ‘Choir for the Nation’, described as an act of support and recognition for the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is scheduled for September 7th in Kinshasa, the organizers announced on Monday to the CPA.‘This “Choir for the Nation” concert is an act of recognition towards our armed forces and a call to national conscience,’ said Wivine Katwanda, one of the event’s organizers.
‘It is the most significant event of the year because our goal is to mobilize the population around peace efforts, in support of the FARDC and those displaced by war,’ she added. Jointly initiated by two Congolese women, Rachel Kabena and Wivine Katwanda, this concert, intended to be both spiritual and patriotic, will feature several gospel artists such as Michel Bakenda, Faveur Mukoko, Christian Mukuna, Eunice Manyanga, Nick David, the Grand Chœur Eden, the Kimbaguiste Symphony Orchestra and the Saint Kizito Catholic Choir. Wivine Katwanda emphasized that this event, which came about following a visit to a camp for displaced persons, will be an evening of worship and fundraising. ‘The message is clear: peace is a shared responsibility that is expressed through music. The funds raised will be used directly to support frontline soldiers, their families, and people displaced by conflicts in the east of the country,’ she said.
