Kinshasa, December 17th, 2025 (CPA).- A workshop to highlight efforts to promote women’s land and forest rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was organized on Wednesday in Kinshasa by the Coalition of Women Leaders for the Environment and Sustainable Development (CFLEDD).
‘We are particularly pleased to welcome you today for a moment of exchange, collective reflection and recognition of the efforts made in recent years to promote women’s land and forest rights, their resilience to climate change and their leadership in natural resource governance,’ said Gloria Tepatondele, accountant at CFLEDD. She noted that this workshop provides an opportunity to share the progress, results and lessons learned from various projects implemented in several provinces of the DRC, thanks to the valuable support of their partners. It also aims to capitalize on these experiences to fuel sectoral reforms and improve future actions of the ‘Direct Support for Women’s Actions for Land, Forests and Resilience (ADF-TFR)’ initiative. ‘Since 2018, the ADF-TFR initiative, led by the Honorable Néné Mainzana, Chair of the CFLEDD Board of Directors, has been a concrete response to the challenges faced by rural and indigenous women, who are often on the front line of climate impacts but still insufficiently recognized in decision-making processes and secure access to land and forests,’ she added.
This workshop to share and capitalize on the results of various projects implemented under the Initiative (ADF-TFR) was supported by environmental organizations (Sychronicity Earth), (Daughters Earth), (Agro ecology Fund) and (Rights Resources). Created in 2011 by women leaders involved in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, CFLEDD is a non-governmental organization based in Kinshasa whose main objective is to promote women’s leadership and guarantee their rights in the areas of environment and sustainable development in the DRC.
