Bandundu, January 6th, 2026 (CPA).- The residents of the town of Bandundu, in Kwilu, in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo, have expressed their satisfaction on Tuesday with the stability of the electricity supply during the New Year celebrations, CPA has learned from local sources. ‘We commend the efforts made by officials at the national electricity company (SNEL) to significantly reduce untimely power cuts and load shedding throughout the end-of-year holiday period, despite a few minor interruptions, especially in the city’s new housing developments,’ has declared Mr Clement Tayeye, president of the local civil society organisation in Bandundu. According to the provincial director of SNEL in the former Bandundu, Ir Prospere Bakuku, ‘this performance is due to a series of measures taken by this service in anticipation of the New Year festivities,’ noting that an awareness campaign conducted by the population on the use of low-ampage light bulbs has been of great importance. He has finally appealed to customers to fulfil their obligations by paying their electricity bills without constraint, so that SNEL would have the financial resources necessary to improve the electricity supply.
