Minister in charge of hydrocarbons reassures public that there is no fuel shortage in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, September 8th, 2026 (CPA). – The Minister in charge of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reassured the public on Tuesday that there is no fuel shortage in Kinshasa, following the observation of queues at certain petrol stations in the capital, according to an official statement consulted by CPA. “Following reports indicating queues observed at certain petrol stations in the city of Kinshasa, Her Excellency the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Hydrocarbons, Acacia Bandubola Mbongo, wishes to reassure the public regarding the supply situation for petroleum products. There is no fuel shortage in Kinshasa. The stocks available at national level are more than sufficient to supply petrol stations and meet consumers’ needs,” it is read. The source has clarified that the distribution of petroleum products is continuing regularly and without interruption. “The distribution of petroleum products is continuing regularly and continuously. The occasional difficulties observed at certain petrol stations are therefore not due to a shortage of stock, but are mainly linked to constraints affecting transport and distribution, in particular traffic jams which slow down the movement of tankers and, consequently, delivery operations,” the document has continued. According to the press release, Ms Bandubola has called on the public to remain calm and peaceful. “There is no need to rush to petrol stations or to stockpile fuel for fear of a possible shortage, as this risks temporarily increasing queuing times. Fuel is available, deliveries are continuing and national reserves are more than sufficient. The Minister urges the public to remain calm and peaceful, and thus reaffirms her commitment to ensure the continuity of the country’s supply and the smooth operation of the petroleum products distribution chain,” the statement has concluded.
