Advocacy of the AGC in favor of the modernization of the villages to stop the rural exodus

Kinshasa, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).- The president of the Association of guides of Congo (AGC), Betty Mombo pleaded Thursday in favor of the modernization and the urbanization of the villages in order to put an end to the rural exodus in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), during a conference-debate organized at the Carrefour des jeunes in the commune of Kalamu, on the theme: « What strategies to make young people in the hinterland feel at ease in their environment ”.

Ms. Mombo regretted that the young people of the interior continue to flee their respective circles, not only because of the insecurity due to the armed conflicts, but also, the lack of attractive infrastructure, job opportunities, appropriate medical care as well as the lack of special attention by the authorities and economic partners to agricultural, fish and poultry activities, which constitute the main source of income for the villagers.

This is why, in his opinion, it is essential for the government of the Sacred Union of the Nation (USN) to provide them with substantial means to industrialize agriculture, breeding and fishing in rural areas while by developing agricultural feeder roads so as to evacuate semi-artificial products valued by consumers. She reminded the authorities of the country of the existence of a project « a roof and a field in his village » to develop the villages by developing the youth. ACP/
