Bandundu: 13th, Governors’ Conference confirmed (The Governor)

Bandundu,  January 8th, 2026 (CPA).- The holding of the thirteenth conference of provincial governors in the city of Bandundu,  the main city of this province, has been confirmed on Thursday by the head of the provincial executive of Kwilu, in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo,  during a press briefing. ‘The thirteenth session of the conference of provincial governors will be held very soon in the city of Bandundu, main city of Kwilu province,’ has declared Dr. Philippe Akamituna, governor of the province. ‘The province of Kwilu has just hosted a second fact-finding mission by members of the permanent secretariat of the conference of governors, experts from the presidency and the prime minister’s office, and the security services, with a view to assessing the progress of preparations for the conference,’ he has added. He has pointed out that this team has wished to see the reality on the ground for themselves before setting a new date for the conference.

‘We are on the right track. All arrangements have been made to ensure that the conference is held in good conditions,’ has said Governor Akamituna. He has welcomed the progress made on the work, emphasising that the biggest weakness is the rehabilitation of the airport, which is currently being carried out by Safimex. He has urged the population to mobilise itself to reserve a warm reception to the President of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi, and to all the authorities who will be taking part, in order to ensure the complete success of this large-scale event, before insisting on the clean-up of the city.
