Laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a university building in Kinshasa

‎Kinshasa, December 22nd, 2025 (CPA) . – The foundation stone for the Omnia Omnibus University faculty building was laid on Monday by the Archbishop of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, during a ceremony held on the campus of this alma mater located in Kasa-Vubu, a commune in the center of the Congolese capital.‘By laying the foundation stone for this new building, which we hope will be tall, solid and functional, we want to profess our faith in God, the source of all wisdom and the foundation of all lasting work, for as Scripture reminds us: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain”,’ said Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa.

« We are truly God’s co-workers when we work for the common good, for the education of young people and for the building of a more just and fraternal society, » he added.According to the Catholic prelate, the laying of this foundation stone expresses the educational mission of the Church and calls for the formation of the intelligence, conscience and heart of the whole person. ‘The work we are beginning today is not a simple architectural project, nor is it just a project to build roads, which will begin today with the clearing of land. It is an important gesture, and that is why we are here today,’ he said.

For his part, the rector of Omnia Omnibus University, Christian Ngazain, said that this construction is one of the challenges of implementing the alma mater’s five-year plan. « Today’s ceremony is of historic significance. I announced at the beginning of the academic year that one of the challenges we have set ourselves as part of the implementation of our university’s five-year plan for this academic year is the construction of new buildings to provide a much more modern study and working environment. Today, we are beginning to implement it, » he said.

Carried out by the engineering and construction company Sesco SARL, with a surface area of 1,950 square metres over three floors, this construction project has been designed with environmental issues in mind in order to limit its impact on nature, offering a simpler and more economical living environment for occupants and meeting the expectations and academic needs of the Saïo campus of Omnia Omnibus University.
